Ikebana Floral Arranging Mother’s Day Workshop

for Wildling Mothers

This spring, join Wild Meadow’s mothers and Amy Getman of Fieldsview Farm for an intimate evening of Ikebana, the Japanese art of floral arranging.

Ikebana, meaning “the way of flowers”, heroes the artistic principles of simplicity, balance and refinement. Offering a beautiful parallel to motherhood, Ikebana inspires a deeper zen to our creative process.

Through teacher-led demonstrations, watercolor painting explorations and ample time to immerse oneself amongst the flowers, participants will assemble their very own Ikebana-style floral arrangement, all beautifully constructed with locally grown flowers from Fieldsview Farm.

In this 2 hour workshop, we’ll explore:

  • teacher led demonstration of of Ikebana floral arranging principles

  • exercises in composition and form using watercolor & ink techniques

  • creation of a Ikebana floral arrangement (take home ceramic vase & metal flower frog)

  • basic cut flower care for preserving flower longevity

  • reflections around “zen” principles and motherhood

  • Q&A with Amy Getman of Fieldsview Farm
